2010 Communities & Homes Hay on Earth Award

SEED was chosen as the winner of the Communities & Homes category by a vote from the panel and audience following a Dragon's Den style competition. The award was presented by Jane Davidson, Welsh Assembly Minster for Environment, Sustainability and Housing to Edward Bulmer and Peter Lawley of SEED Homes at the end of the event.

The award took the form of a £10,000 Sustainable Development Challenge grant funded by the Welsh Assembly Government. SEED used this money to further refine the innovative panel system using students from the Centre for Alternative Technology’s Graduate School of the Environment to work on junction detailing and reduce thermal bridging. In addition to this the award was used to fund a programme of structural testing, to pay for professional design services and for the work of a quantity surveyor.

Edward Bulmer and Peter Lawley returned to Hay on Earth 2011 to report on the work done and encourage this years entrants.
