Elm Cottage at 1st floor already

11th April 2013

Elm Cottage is rapidly taking shape with the erection crew completing the ground floor panels at the end of week 1.

The distinctive pink SEED panel are rising up over New Street Ledbury. the first consignment of panels arrived on Monday 8th of April and despite a day of health and safety training on the Tuesday the panels were fixed in place by Thursday 11th April. the erection team are now rapidly cladding the inner surfaces to enclose the panels ready for injection of Warmcel insulation.

This approach, where the rough-sawn tongue and groove boarding is fitted on-site rather than in the factory is a new idea to this project. It enables good access to the structure of the panels for fixing and the T&G helps tie the panels together.

the first floor joists, 264mm easi-joists, are arriving on site early in the following week and fitting them will commence shortly after.

The building is starting to take shape now. the rooms are clearly defined and the windows offer their views.
